Ucon x Rainer Spehl
Wooden Laptop Case with leather lining
for MacBook Pro

"For our latest collaboration we teamed up with Rainer Spehl, a furniture, interior and exhibition designer from Berlin. Besides great work for Nike and Stone Island, his portfolio also includes partners like Dior and Gucci. His design bears witness to his strong interest in craftsmanship and its proper execution. The choice of material and the detailing are characteristics of his work which is quite obviously always striving to be of the highest standard. We at UCON share his taste for perfection – functionally as well as aesthetically. We are more than proud to present you the Noah Case!"

Dieter Rams: Less and More Interview by david burel

"How to introduce one of the most influential designers of the 20th century--one whose clear visual language has not only defined product design for decades, but also our fundamental understanding of design's potential and function? We're guessing our "Less and More" book and this video podcast interview is a good start."

Shwood for Pendelton by david burel

"For Autumn/Winter 2011, Shwood has joined forces with fellow Oregon-based company Pendleton Woolen Mills on a limited run of Shwood’s “Canby” frame style. Crafted from Oregon-grown Cherry wood, the frames feature laser engraved temples adorned with Pendleton’s iconic “Chief Joseph” pattern. Taking the collaboration a step further, Pendleton manufactured a matching carrying pouch woven from a limited batch of wool, exclusive to the project. With both parties dedicated to domestic manufacturing, the project pays tribute to the state of Oregon and the heritage manufacturing techniques that make the products great.

Based in Portland, Oregon Shwood creates handcrafted wooden eyewear using fine exotic hardwoods.
Shwood’s in-house manufacturing process merges precision technology with classic skilled craftsmanship to create a timeless art form. Every step from veneering and precision lens cutting, to shaping and finishing is conducted in our own Portland-based workshop to promise an entirely handcrafted eyewear piece.
